Further Mathematcis

Further Mathematics is a challenging qualification, which both extends and deepens knowledge and understanding beyond the standard A level Mathematics course. Further Mathematics enables students to distinguish themselves as able mathematicians in their applications for university and future employment.

AS Further Mathematics consists of three modules – one further core unit and two others. Each module is assessed by a 90 minute exam taken at the end of Year 12. Students will sit an additional three modules in Year 13. Each module is assessed by a 90 minute exam taken at the end of the second year.

3 modules at AS level
3 modules at A2 level

It would be recommended that students take both Mathematics and Further Mathematics if they intend to study a subject that is rich in Mathematics at degree level. An A level in Mathematics and at least an AS level in Further Mathematics represent the recommended entry requirements for some of the top universities and help to maximise application success.
